At the behest of Lonnie Nicholl, the pastor of First Baptist Church of Plymouth, Indiana, on Sunday, September 3rd of 2006, I recorded the 2006 Plymouth High School Crimson Connection at the Blueberry Festival, as Lonnie's daughter was performing in the event.
The video recorder I had access to at the time could only record in 480i. So, I thought this video would be a good first candidate for publishing my realesrgan-ncnn-vulkan super-resolution bash script production.
I really should start putting my own logos and a solicitation for donations on these videos. We need the money to buy better, more powerful computers.
My super-resolution script uses ffmpeg to strip every frame from the video at 29.97 fps and deinterlaces each frame, producing 2x the number of frames. Once all frames are deinterlaced, the realesrgan-ncnn-vulkan (AI) redraws each frame at 4x times its original size 2880x1920, then mogrify scales that image down to 1620x1080p (4:3) aspect ratio. Once every frame is scaled to 1620x1080p (4:3) ffmpeg once again processes each frame to recreate the video, now at 59.94 fps.
How long did all this take? The first deinterlaced frame that ffmpeg produced was on 2025-11-17 18:05:14 and the final recreated 1620x1080p (4:3) video was created on 2025-12-13 21:20:26. Meaning, to super-scale a 29 minute video it took my side computer system nearly 1 month of constant non-stop work 627 hours, to turn a 29 minute video into a larger and arguably better looking video.
I've also included the original 480i video to demonstrate what content the super-resolution script had to use in order to recreate the video at a larger scale.
